Account
Account is where you sign in, set how you appear, manage your plan and license keys, and control cloud sync across devices. Open it from the sidebar. Three tabs cover identity (Profile), subscription access (Plan), and keeping Notes, Dictionary, modes, and settings aligned (Sync).
What you see
At the top of the page:
| Element | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Avatar | Your profile photo, or initials from your name/email |
| Kalam account kicker | Confirms you are on the account screen |
| Title | Your display name or email when signed in; Your profile when signed out |
| Plan badge | Free, Pro trial, Pro, Max, or Expired |
| Email line | Signed-in email, or a prompt to sign in |
| Sign in / Sign out | Session controls (see below) |
Then three tabs: Profile, Plan, and Sync.
Sign in and sign out
Signing in uses browser device approval — Kalam does not ask you for a password inside the app.
- Click Sign in (or Open sign-in again if a browser session is already waiting).
- Your browser opens kalamvoice.com for approval.
- Finish signing in there, then return to Kalam.
- A notice says: Finish signing in at kalamvoice.com in your browser, then return to Kalam.
When sign-in succeeds, Kalam refreshes your profile, plan, and sync status. Your account’s best eligible license can be applied to this device automatically.
Sign out
- Click Sign out.
- Confirm: Sign out of your Kalam account on this device? Your license key and local data stay.
Signing out removes the account session on this device. Local settings, history, and an applied license key remain.
If the sign-in link expires or verification fails, start Sign in again from the Account header.
Profile
When signed in, Profile shows the Identity card.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Display name | Optional name shown across Kalam and kalamvoice.com (max 80 characters). Clear it and Save to use your email instead. |
| Profile photo | Upload, replace, or remove a photo (JPEG, PNG, or WebP, up to 2 MB). |
| Read-only here. Opens your web account settings on kalamvoice.com. |
When signed out, Profile shows: Sign in to edit your display name and profile photo.
Plan
Plan shows your current entitlement and license tools.
Current plan
| Row / control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Account plan | Best tier across your licenses (Free, Pro trial, Pro, Max, Expired). Trials show an end date when available. |
| Using on this device | The license key active on this computer (masked), or No license on this device. |
| Manage billing & devices online | Opens the license dashboard on kalamvoice.com. |
| Start free trial | Signed-in Free users who have never used a trial can start a 14-day Pro trial. |
| View plans | Opens pricing when you need to upgrade (Free or Expired, and trial already used). |
- Free — core dictation; sync locked.
- Pro trial / Pro — Pro features and cloud sync (bring your own API keys for cloud AI).
- Max — everything in Pro, plus hosted Kalam Cloud speech and AI (included in Max; quotas and billing are managed on the web dashboard).
- Expired — paid access ended; upgrade or apply a new key.
Your licenses
When signed in with one or more keys on the account, each license lists plan, masked key, status, and expiry. The key on this device shows This device. Other active keys offer Use on this device (with confirmation).
Have a license key?
Expand Have a license key? and paste a key (KALAM-XXXX-…), then Apply. That activates the key on this device and refreshes plan access.
Sync
Sync keeps notes, snippets, dictionary, modes, and settings aligned across devices. Status can be On, Off, Paused, Syncing, or Needs attention.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Last synced | Relative time of the last successful sync |
| Device | Short device id when linked |
| Turn on / Turn off | Enable or disable sync for this license |
| Pause / Resume | Pause automatic sync; Sync now still works while paused |
| Sync now | Run a manual sync immediately |
What syncs
Cloud sync covers notes, snippets, dictionary, dictation modes, and settings. Provider API keys can sync in encrypted form when sync is enabled. Dictation history and local-only data stay on the device unless you export them separately.
Advanced (cloud reset)
Under Advanced → Reset cloud sync data:
- Confirm: Delete all cloud sync data for this license? Data on this device stays.
- Click Reset cloud data.
This clears the server copy only. Local data on this machine is unchanged.
