History
History is the full log of past dictations on this device. Browse by day, search transcripts, copy text, or open an entry for metrics, features used, and privacy controls for the target app. Retention (how long entries stay) is set under Settings → Privacy, not on this page.
What you see
List

Each row can show:
- Mode chip: dictation or capture
- Recognition chip (provider and path, for example Groq (Cloud))
- Dictation mode name when one was active
- Icons for Polish, Context, or Auto-activated when those applied
- Recording duration in seconds
Empty states: Use a dictation hotkey to start dictating. or, while searching, Try a different search term.
Entry detail
Open a row to see that dictation’s detail view. Header actions:

The body includes:

Include in Sensitive apps uses the same list as Settings → Data & Privacy → Sensitive apps. With sensitive-app detection on and Hybrid or Auto speech modes, Kalam can keep audio on-device while that app is focused. See Privacy settings and Speech-to-text modes.
Common tasks
Search history
- Open History.
- Type in Search your dictations...
- Matching substrings in transcripts are highlighted.
- Clear the search field to return to the full list.
Change sort order
- Click the sort control in the toolbar.
- It switches between Newest first and Oldest first within each day group.
Copy a transcript
- On the list, click Copy on a row, or open the entry and click Copy.
- The button briefly shows Copied.
Save a dictation as a note
- Open the entry.
- Click the notebook control (Save as note).
- The note editor opens with the transcript; save from there. See Notes.
Delete one entry
- Open the entry.
- Click the trash control.
- Confirm Delete this dictation from history? This cannot be undone.
Clear all history
- Click Clear all.
- Confirm Clear all history? — This removes every dictation from history. You cannot undo this.
- Confirm with Clear all.
Mark the target app as sensitive
- Open an entry that has a target app.
- Turn on Include in Sensitive apps.
- Manage the full list anytime under Settings → Privacy.
Retention
How long history is kept is controlled by History Retention in Settings → Privacy (Data & Privacy):

Clearing history or deleting an entry is immediate and separate from retention. See Privacy settings.
