Reset and re-run setup
Two different recovery paths: re-run the setup wizard (keeps your data, walks through account/permissions/shortcuts again) versus a full application reset (erases local settings and data). Prefer the wizard first. Full reset lives in Settings → Advanced → Danger Zone.
Re-run the setup wizard
Use when: Permissions feel wrong, you want the first-run tour again, or shortcuts need a guided pass — without wiping history.
- Open Settings → General → Startup.
- Click Re-run setup wizard.
- Confirm. Kalam marks setup incomplete and shows the wizard.
- Finish or skip steps as needed; your notes, modes, and most settings remain.
You will not see the wizard again unless you choose this action or perform a full reset / brand-new install. Accidental onboarding after an update is treated as a bug — report it with logs.
Full reset (Danger Zone)
Use when: The app is unusable, config is corrupt, or you want a clean slate. This is destructive.
- Export anything you need (Settings → Advanced → Workspace backup, notes sync to another device, etc.).
- Open Settings → Advanced → Danger Zone.
- Under Clear All Data, click Reset.
- Confirm the dialog: it deletes settings, history, and local data (notes, snippets, and related app data covered by reset).
- Relaunch and complete setup as a new install.
Reset clears local application data. Cloud sync data is separate — use Account → Sync → Reset cloud data only if you also intend to wipe the server copy. See Sync across devices.
